Keep Calm and Covid On
Short post.
It feels like Assange is being held underwater. It feels like all of us who care about democracy and press freedom are also being held underwater.
We can scream, blog, webinar and write letters — all of these are important — but the gaslightingAssange tactic is to make it feel like we are all muted by the weight of water above and around us. Despite so many legal, psychologic, United Nations, human rights organization statements, Britain is ignoring the obvious. It feels like secondary psychological torture to me. I’m not the one being held in Belmarsh maximum security prison infected with Covid19. Assange is. We’re not the ones bearing the weight of injustice. He is.
The rage I sometimes feel about this topic is palpable. I feel it on my chest in the front of my rib cage. My sternum is heavy.
The delays, deflections, explanations that everything is going according to standard procedures, lies and stonewalling are all part of gaslightingAssange.
Why do I feel so angry? Everything about this case triggers PTSD and C-PTSD in me. Assange is the victim in this. But so are we.
