Dedication to Max and Gabriel Assange-Morris

Dear Gabriel and Max,

I’m Jude. Or Aunt-Chew to my niece Alice. I have over 20 and grand nieces/nephews. I used to be a teacher and I loved that job. My students were awesome and we had great days everyday. They shaped me and I tried to inspire them and teach them about critical thinking. I am not a mom to any children of my own (either by natural birth or adoption). I am the mom of two female blue heelers (Foxy and Frankie) and the former foster mom of two male Aussie blue heelers (Micah/Max, Felix) whom we still miss. Me and my girl heelers live in Canada. You are welcome to come visit with us anytime!

As a teacher I tried to order the day, get things done, honour my students, laugh, pray and play with them, get to know their families, joke with their parents and give them the best of me everyday. I wanted, and still want, to prepare them to participate in the world today and the world ahead. My first lesson every September was “To have a friend, be a friend”. Friendship is really important. Family is super important. For me, faith is vitally important.

I am dedicating this book to you because whenever you are ready, you will want to know what happened to Daddy, your dad Julian Assange, after you were born and why he was not allowed to be in your life with your Mom Stella when you were young. Why was he in jail? Is/Was he a good person? People in your generation need to know what has happened to your Dad because people all over the world need to be able to think critically — understand things using lots of facts and information and make decisions about their learning — and the future of the planet depends on you guys and your generation. For a long time, there were many people who told lies about your Dad, were very cruel and he almost died. This book is dedicated to you because I want people to understand the truth about your Dad and I don’t want anyone to believe the lies that he could not shake for 11 years. The truth will befriend you, guide you and defend you.

I want you to have your dad back. I want the world you inherit to be a world of justice, peace, sustainability, joy, critical thinking, beauty and friendship. I am writing this book because I care about you, Stella, Julian, your grandparents and your generation. Even though I don’t work in a classroom anymore, the world has become my classroom and my computer is my connection to everyone.

I hope one day I will be able to meet you in person. We could read, laugh, play, eat, walk and have a lovely visit. The heelers will love you, for sure. You can ask me whatever you want. I know you are smart, especially with Stella and Julian as your parents. You are busy boys with busy bodies and busy brains! Behave :)

I am dedicating this book to you with love to everyone in your family, including Julian Assange. I have spent over 10 years fighting to protect your dad and working for his freedom.
